Saying Good-Bye

Knowing that we were closing on the sale of our previous house, we decided to stop by after church last week and say good-bye. It was kind of sad to leave--there were lots of memories there.

Carter, Rees, and Alex were all born while we were there. We spent a lot of time doing venetian plaster in the family room (then I was put on bedrest half way through and had to sit and watch matt finish it), Matt created a cool shelf for the playroom and put up beadboard in Caroline's room.

Even aside from all the work we did, it was the memories of pillow fights and playing red light/green light in the family room, Caroline picking flowers and leaves when she was about 3--they would serve as gifts to anyone that came over, Caroline and Grandpa picking crab-apples and eating them, chasing lizards out of the house (oh, wait--that isn't one I'll miss!) , watching the kids take their first steps and their first time falling down the stairs :) The kids getting mad when all the cherry blossoms fell and the leaves started growing, and lots and lots of piles of leaves to play in during the fall (ok--don't really miss all those leaves to rake either!) And, of course, being close enough to Grandma and Grandpa Olsen's house that we could walk or ride our bikes there!

Despite all of the problems we had (it seems that the house was mad at us for putting it up for sale because everything started breaking as soon as we decided to put it on the market) we still have a lot of memories there and it was hard to say good-bye! We had a great 5 years there!

The cherry tree started blooming just in time--I was worried we wouldn't get a last picture with it!

Alex in the playroom--raising his had and saying "ME!!"

Bathtime!

The thing we hated to say good-bye to the most--the stream in the back yard!

The good news is that we LOVE our new house and already have some great memories here...and there will hopefully be many more to follow.

The couple we sold our house to is expecting their first baby in September and they went on and on about how much they loved the house and the paint, and how excited they were to be there--so here is wishing them as wonderful of memories as we had there!
