"See, he found his toy"

Today I had to take Carter to the dentist to get a cavity filled (poor kid--looks like he inherited my terrible teeth). Anyway, Carter did not do so well--this from the kid that got 5 shots last year and never even cried. I'm waiting to check out and Carter is literally laying on the floor crying and yelling that he wants to go home. Of course the person in front of me is doing everything under the sun--paying for visits in advance, asking questions, asking for print outs of previous receipts...on and on! Finally (now that Alex and Carter are both screaming), we pay and go to leave. Just as we open the door to the waiting area a nurse is coming back with a little girl that looks TERRIFIED. So I hear the nurse say as we pass "See, he found his toy, he'll be ok!" I almost started laughing! Now that the numbness has passed he is totally happy. From comments he made I realized he thought it was going to be like getting his tonsils out again! Carter has had a rough month--in the last 24 days he has had his tonsils out, had pneumonia, and had a cavity filled!

Poor guy! I am glad he is doing better. Here's to 24 days of no cavities, surgeries, or pneumonia! (At least 24 days!)

Carter is a brave little boy to even go to the dentist. Hope his life is better for the next few years!
