Halloween

We held our 3rd Annual Halloween party this year. The tradition started in 2006 when Alex was a baby and Matt was in Finland for 5 weeks. He wasn't going to be home for Halloween, and I didn't want to spend the holiday by myself, so we invited everyone to come over. We always have dinner first then swarm the neighborhood with little trick or treaters.
The whole crew just before heading out for trick or treating

"Witches brew" is a staple (homemade root beer and dry ice)

Alex was really jealous of Aaron's monkey costume at the neighborhood and ward halloween party. He really really really (did I mention really) wanted to be a monkey. He even tried on Aaron's costume--which sadly fit, except for the pants being too short. I mentioned it to Lisa and she said that they had a monkey costume in size 2T that they bought on clearance last year that they said Alex could use. He was so excited to be a monkey!!

At each house Alex went to, instead of saying "Trick or Treat", he would just say "ooh ooh, aah aaah" like a monkey--it was really cute.

Last week, Caroline played a trick on Matt by taking a mini snicker bar, opening it carefully and substituting the candy bar for an Almond Joy (Matt hates coconut). The kids all thought it was hilarious that they tricked daddy. Apparently Alex got the impression that Caroline loved Almond Joy candy bars (she hates coconut too). Anytime he got an Almond Joy (or could pick one out) he got it and gave it to Caroline since they were her favorite. It was sweet to see him pick candy that she liked just so he could give it to her!
