I'm not sure when it happened, but Alex has moved from my little boy to a big kid (I should know by now--he tells me every day that he is "a big boy now").
The PBS station has a little commercial that they repeat fairly often that gives some little fact and then they say "The more you know, the smarter you grow". Anytime Alex learns something he says "I told you....the more you know, the more you grow". When I tell him that he is so smart he says "Yep--you're right", as if I'm stating what is completely obvious.
He started sunbeams at church the first of January. I still peek in the nursery room expecting to see him there--but he isn't. He LOVES sunbeams. I'm not exactly sure how it happens, but the same kid that can't sit still for 2 seconds during sacrament meeting, who is completely crazy after church while I clean up the primary room and get ready to leave, is "an absolute dream" (according to his teacher) during class. The first week I took him up to meet his teacher. I introduced them and told him to sit next to her and that was it--he sat reverently all through sharing time and class. When I peek in on his class he is always raising his hand or sitting quietly--thoroughly engrossed in the lesson. When I see him in the hall (I'm in the primary presidency and this is my month to monitor the hall and check on all the classes) he smiles at me or gives me a quick hug then folds his arms and is right back with is teacher. I think he is so proud to be a big kid now that he remembers all the lessons Caroline gave him on "primary manners".
We usually discuss the kids lessons on the way home from church. The first week he was in sunbeams we asked Alex what they talked about in class. This is how it went:
Matt: Alex--what did you talk about in your class?I guess he is now old enough to realize his parents are completely stupid and don't know anything. :)
Alex: Jesus
Matt: What about Jesus?
Alex: I don't know.
Matt: Does Jesus love you?
Alex: Duh. Of course He does.
Today I told him we had to wait until Caroline's bus came before we went to play in the basement. I told him it would be 3 minutes and then her bus would come and we could go downstairs. He looked at me and said "That will take FOREVER" "Just let me do what I want"
Next thing I know he will be a teenager.

Love it. The wisdom of a 3 year old! LOL
I get the same thing from Logan's preschool teacher. He follow's directions, listens & is so well behaved.
