Child Prodigy

I know--all parents think that their own child is the smartest, or cutest, or best that they have ever seen....but I now have proof that Aaron is a child prodigy.

Here is how I came to discover his gift....

Aaron is about 8 weeks away from being 18 months old and able to go to the Nursery class at church. Since Matt teaches primary one hour and Elders Quorum the other hour (not every week, but often enough), I usually have Aaron with me during primary. He isn't exactly the most cooperative about being held (and quiet) while I conduct, or do sharing time.

Occasionally, however, I have been able to use it to my advantage when he is sleeping and I'm trying to hold him and do sharing time and I tell the kids they have to be really really quiet and listen so I can talk quietly so I don't wake up my baby :)

Many people have offered to take him, but he only wants me or Matt, so I've been dealing with him the best I can.

Now....getting back to his apparent prodigy status..... Sunday I was holding Aaron in the hall and a friend came up and took Aaron and said he was close enough to go to nursery that I shouldn't have to hold him anymore--so he went to Nursery. He did really good (he got there right at snack time) and played with the toys. I kept checking and he did really well, but got tired about 20 min before church ended and started crying so I picked him up and held him the rest of the time.

After church, the daughter of one of the nursery leaders ran to the primary room and said "I'm glad I caught you--here is Aaron's picture he colored today". I thought it was a little funny because Aaron certainly did not remember and from what I know he can barely color...but I took the picture.

That is when I discovered his gifted abilities....I'll just let you judge for yourself:
look at that--coloring inside the lines, appropriate colors for hair and clothing....wow. We obviously have some areas to work on--the coloring isn't perfect and he didn't finish the project, but I think he may be headed to art school in a few years!

ok--I know he didn't really color it--it just made me laugh that they would go to all the effort to bring it to me when it was obvious that he didn't even have anything to do with coloring it :)

I think he didn't finish because he was bored with it. You know how prodigys are. Everything is too easy for them - they need a challenge. Get that boy some art supplies!
