Camping

We went on a quick overnight campout last Friday. It was pretty low key, but we had a great time. Of course we forgot to take pictures until everything was packed up...but here was the campsite (the Lichfields came with us and their site was right next door).
It was a nice little place, there were only a couple of issues. First, there was quite a large dropoff at the end of the site...this is not ideal when two of the kids are under 2! Second, the bathrooms were a long ways away--you had to drive...also not ideal when there are 5 kids in the group. Third, we had some loud night time neighbors. It wasn't horrible, just not that great. Lisa and Adam got the worst on their side. I figure we made up for it by waking them with 3 bathroom trips during the night (car with headlights) and then everyone up and playing at 6:30am.Caroline and Carter put on a little performance while waiting for everyone to finish in the bathroom (Caroline is never one to let an opportunity to perform pass her by)pretty sure this is not following campground rules...
We parked at the picnic area of the campground and took a little walk down to a little spot we could launch the boats--there is a much bigger boat launch on the other side of the campground, but this was completely empty and the other was filled with huge fishing boats...this was perfect for a couple of kayaks
The kids started off carrying the kid kayak
Adam had to help out, just a little
Carter getting ready for his first solo trip--we realized once he was out that we had only taught him to paddle a canoe, not a kayak...oops.
Alex and Ellie on the beach
Carter coming back inAlex spent a lot of time playing with a stick and the mud.

Alex getting ready for his trip

Carter playing on the beach--shortly after this he scraped his leg really badly on the cement wall...ouch!

"Girls" liked to play on the wall

Carter, after scraping his leg, decided he wanted to take some pictures (a lot of pictures)--he got a couple of good ones.
Aaron had slept most of the time and just woke up the last few minutes
Heading back up
Alex fell (again) and had to show me how dirty his hands were.

We had a really great time. Aaron (who LOVES to be outside) was thrilled with it--just sitting in chairs and walking around looking at everything. The kids went to bed so easily and we had so much fun. We definitely are going to be going camping again soon.

looks like fun!

*mental note to myself, never go to a campsite where the bathrooms are a car drive away (!)

Good pictures, especially since you can't really see me in any of them. I'll return the favor! :)
