Saturday, we decided to go to the outlet malls. Matt had just arrived home from his latest DC trip, and one of his suits had died. I had just finished a primary activity and needed to do something other than be with the kids by myself!
The plan was for Matt to go look at suits with the kids while I shopped...oh, I mean Matt shop without the kids while I watch them at the playground. It was a good idea, except it was about 90 degrees outside and after about 15 minutes we were all anxious to go somewhere that had air conditioning.
I took the kids to the Toys R Us outlet....really--explain to me the whole idea of an outlet, because the prices at Toys R Us "outlet" were not any cheaper than the same products in the store--some were more expensive....and there was hardly anything that was different than a normal store.
One thing that was different was this parrot. It is called Pete the Repeat parrot. You say something to it and it repeats it and moves its mouth and squawks. It really is pretty cute. Carter fell in love with it and wanted to buy it with his allowance.
After we got home he took it out the box and (while I searched for a screwdriver that would fit the microscopic screw so I could put in batteries), Cater was telling me about his bird.
Carter: Won't it be great that I can have a friend in my room all the time (we are in the process of painting Caroline's old room and will move Carter in there while Alex and Aaron share a room)? I will never be lonely with Petey there.
Me: I will leave this blank, as you don't really want to know what I was saying about toy manufacturers that can't put standard size screws in toys
Carter: Made in China. Mom-did you know this was made in China?
Me: yes
Carter: Man.....those people in China really work hard.
Me: you have no idea.....
I just love Carter--he makes me laugh more than anyone else I know. As Caroline said--he is perfect blog material.
