Boys Camping Trip

Matt has been wanting to take Caroline and Carter on an overnight hike for a while (they have done it before, but he was wanting to go again on a bit longer hike).  He had been planning a great one for Christmas break.  It looked like the weather was going to cooperate for a New Years Eve hike and they would return New Years day.  Matt's dad and 2 sisters (Alyssa and Lexie) were going to go as well....sealing the deal for Caroline.  Unfortunately, Caroline got sick and couldn't go.  Alex wanted to go, but couldn't do the long hike.  Without Caroline, Alyssa and Lexie decided they would rather go to the New Years Eve dance at church.  So it ended up being a car camping trip for Dad & the boys and Grandpa.

Matt is a fabulous cook--when we camp, we always eat very well!

Matt has spent the last year making walking sticks for the family--they are beautiful and the boys were excited to have theirs on the camp and hike.

What camping trip would be complete without a few games on Grandpa's Iphone?

The Hike....

I love this series of pictures of Grandpa and Alex.  Seeing the pictures I can almost hear what is happening--it is so typical of both of them.

Grandpa is saying something ridiculous to get Alex to laugh--Alex doesn't want to, but can't totally hide the grin.

Grandpa is pretending to get Alex and Alex is still trying to be mad, but is laughing at this point.

Grandpa was successful.

Alex takes revenge.

Carter is staying out of the whole thing--happy to be doing something on his own.
