Fort Discovery

For years now, we have been wanting to take the kids to Fort Discovery at the National Science Center in Augusta.  Matt's parents live really close to it but we just never seem to make it.

After Christmas we spent some time in Augusta and decided to go to Fort Discovery on 12/30.  We had great timing--Fort Discovery was closing for good on 12/31.

I'm really sorry we didn't go earlier, because we had a really great time there.
Caroline doing the space walk.  Alex really wanted to try, but he wasn't quite tall enough.
The spinning tops were a favorite of all the kids.  You put the top in a base in the corner then pushed a button and it would spin out.  There were tops in opposite corners so they could "duel".
The absolute favorite (of everyone tall enough to do it...once again, Alex was sad to be left out) was the Human Gyroscope.
Caroline did it twice

Aaron loved the little kids area...really anything that resembles a train he loves!

Carter and Aaron liked the astronaut picture.

Alex loved the huge marble ball floating on water.
One of the best things about going the day before they closed for good (besides the fact that they only made us pay for the kids) is the gift shop was all 70% off.  So we were the best parents ever when we let the kids buy a toy from the gift shop (not that there was much to choose from, but everyone found something).  You can see Aaron and Alex's stuffed dogs in this picture.

Looks like a fun place to go too. We have never been there.
