Alex's 5th Birthday

Alex had a great 5th Birthday. At school he brought a cookie cake to his class. He wanted a cookie cake and he wanted balloons on it. I asked him what 2 colors he wanted and he said "Pink and Chocolate!" I asked him if he was sure he wanted pink and not blue or green or yellow.  But he was sure, and he was set on pink.  (I, personally, think it had something to do with the fact that pink was Grace's favorite color (Grace was his best friend).) Since that is what he wanted, pink is what he got!
The weekend of his birthday Party, Matt was out of town.  His Grandpa Olsen offered to take Alex and Carter on his ward's father and son's campout.  The boys had such a good time.  One of the contests at the campout was a watermelon eating contest.
Alex won, not for finishing first, but for best technique.  His technique was to put his face in and not come out until the watermelon was gone.  I love this picture that someone took.  Apparently my boys made quite a name for themselves in the various games at the campout.  I'm not sure I will ever dare to show my face at their ward again.

Alex's birthday party had a Carnival theme.  It was a fun party!  We had 15-20 kids playing all kinds of carnival games, including a pie eating contest (which ended up just being a time that everyone ate a small pudding pie with a spoon).  I took a ton of really great pictures.  Unfortunately, I didn't realize until the end of the party that there was no memory card in the camera.  The silver lining is that I discovered a setting on the camera that won't allow it to take pictures without a memory card.
