I got a call within a couple of hours of school starting that Caroline was in the clinic and may have broken her hand.
One of the field day activities is a tug of war. Apparently teachers were also participating in the tug of war along with the kids. As the tug of war ended, Caroline fell down and her hand was stepped on by one of the teachers. The teacher didn't realize what had happened and continued on to participate in the teacher tug of war. Now all the teachers were involved in the tug of war and nobody noticed that Caroline was hurt. Luckily Caroline's friend realized she was hurt and got her mom (who was volunteering for field day).
At the urgent care office the x-ray was inconclusive so a splint was put on and they told us to wait a few days to see if it was better. Four days later she was still in a lot of pain, and the brace was giving her blisters so we took her to the orthopedist and they gave her a cast......she chose a light blue cast with dark blue glitter. The casts keep getting fancier and fancier!

Caroline's cast stayed on for 3 weeks. She got it off on May 31st--if I had been planning a bit better I would have had it removed before the Memorial Day weekend and saved a lot of grief over our day at the lake.
