Groundhogs Day and Snowman Pancakes

Every year on groundhogs day, I make little groundhogs cupcakes for the kids' classes.  This year groundhogs day came on a Saturday so I brought them to school on Friday (except for Aaron's preschool that got them on Thursday)...I have so much fun making them!
Above are the cupcakes I sent in and below is Carter's own groundhog creation--he made it after he and Caroline helped me make all the groundhog heads.
February 1st was also the date for First Grade Snowman Pancakes
Usually these activities have something academic with them (pumpkin math had estimating, counting, etc), but snowman pancakes seems to be just about eating pancakes and getting as much sugar as you can into one hour of school.  They do this the first hour of school, and then the poor first grade teachers have to deal with 6 year olds on a sugar high for the rest of the day!  Alex's teacher had the supplies ready for the chef's hats, but ran out of time making them so I helped her out and then worked on the pancakes.  Aaron had to have a chef's hat too!  I think by the time Aaron is in kindergarten he will have done everything for every grade so many times he won't want to do it when it is really his turn!
Alex was trying to make the same face as his snowman.
I love this smile--it is the "mom told me to smile but I really just want to eat the candy" look!
