Tubing!

When we found out we were coming to Utah in March I knew I wanted to find a place to take the kids tubing.  The first place I found was perfect--they even rented snow boots (perfect since we don't have much call for snow boots in Georgia)!  Once we started making definite plans about where to go, I realized that we wanted to go tubing on Monday, March 18th and this place closed for the season on Sunday, March 17th.  Luckily we found another place near Park City to go to.  Unfortunately they don't rent boots.  Luckily, we decided to stop by DI (thrift store) and see what we could find.  We found boots for me and the kids, 2 pairs of gloves (I brought a few) and Jennifer got a jacket.  The best part is with all of that and a toy for each of the kids we only spent $40!  Grandpa Olsen came with us, but he stayed out of the cold in the "Warming Yurt" drinking some hot chocolate and watching the action.  Matt had to stay at the hotel and work...we really missed him!
The weather was absolutely perfect!  We all had on several layers, but by the end of the first hour I had taken off my gloves and my sweatshirt!  Alex was so excited to see the snow.  He just kept punching and kicking it--over and over and over (and over)!    Of course toward the end of the time we had for tubing he said his feet were completely frozen.  I took his boots off to shake the snow out and found enough snow in each boot to make a decent sized snowball!
Aaron was right on the edge of having to go to on the baby hills or being able to go on the big ones.  We decided to take him on the big ones, but I was worried he would be scared--he wasn't!  They would let you get a big group together to go down and that was really fun too!
I was definitely thankful that Dad and Jennifer had come with me--dragging those tubes to the lifts was hard and Aaron and Alex needed help--it would have been tough without any other adults!
The first part you went up by getting on a conveyor belt--it wasn't bad, but the tubes didn't fit on the belt so it was difficult to hold onto them and get to the top.
After getting off the conveyor belt you walked a little bit and got on a tow rope--that one was nice!
The boys decided they wanted to make some snow angels--but Aaron didn't like having snow on his arms and hands (we had taken his gloves off earlier because they weren't working well) so he did his arms in the air.

We had a 2 hour window and by the time we paid, got ready and started tubing we had lost about 20 minutes...but by the time the two hours were up, we were done!  It was so much fun and I'm so glad we got to go--but we were ready to get warmed up!  Dad & Grandpa took Jennifer to the airport to catch her flight home and the kids and I drove home--stopping to get some pizza to eat at the hotel with Matt.
