Fireworks--part 2

Sunday evening, July 5th, we went back to Shanna's for another dinner (it was so fun the first time we figured we would try it again!). We were getting ready to leave when Shanna remembered that she had sparklers for the kids.

Now...normally I avoid like the plague don't like sparklers, but I thought that maybe I was just being a stick in the mud and I should let the kids have some fun. So the kids got their sparklers.
Caroline was not happy at first--but calmed down to be ok--can you see the mix of excitement and being terrified on her face? I think it comes through quite well.
Carter, ever the easy going kid, had no problems.Alex started off good
but....as I feared, we took our eyes off of him for a second and we heard a scream--he had picked up his sparkler by the top--burning 3 of his fingers. After running his hand in water for about 10 minutes it had already blistered and we decided it was time to head home....poor kid.
Even with the cup of water for his hand, tylenol for the pain, and his favorite tv-shows, it was after 11 before he fell asleep. 3 days later, his blisters are popping and he is still in having a hard time. When the kids said their prayers that night, one of them prayed that they wouldn't be invited over to anyone's house who is doing sparklers, ever, ever again.

so my ban of sparklers is back on :) Back as strong as my guilt for letting my 3 year old get such bad burns on his little fingers.
