Atlanta temple closed in July of 2009 for extensive renovations. Nearly 2 (very long) years later, the temple was ready for re-dedication. For two weeks the temple was open the the public. We took the kids twice. The first time was the first Saturday of the open house (3 days after we returned from Utah).
The following Friday and Saturday, Matt and I both volunteered at the open house. After volunteering I decided I wanted to take the kids back to spend a little more time together as a family--and to take some pictures for them to remember it by. We took them on Good Friday (April 22nd), the second to last day of the open house. Before going we spent a lot of time talking about the temple and how important it is to our family. I reminded them of how our family is sealed together for eternity, and that Rees is waiting for us to join him in heaven. I told them that I wanted them to live so that we could all come back together one day when they were all old enough.
After the temple I was going to take them back to school, but we decided to play hookey and go pick strawberries.
The temple was re-dedicated on May 1st and Caroline was able to come with Matt and I to the dedication (you had to have turned 8 and Carter missed it by only 4 months).
