One of our favorite things to do in April is to go and pick strawberries. If you go at the right time (this is crucial to having fun vs being miserable) you can pick more than you would ever need in less than an hour. We all like picking so we take orders from friends/family and pick for them as well.
This is what it looks like--amazing, huge strawberries everywhere. The kids like to find the biggest ones and yell "Jackpot". Aaron started saying jackpot anytime he saw a strawberry.
With all the final strawberries--we kept 3 gallons and had plenty for strawberry pie, milk shakes, ice cream, sliced with milk, and (Aaron and Alex's favorite) just to eat whole. Last year I made so much strawberry jam and froze so many that we aren't even halfway there (I did 6 gallons last year), so we skipped that this year.
