Our last day in Utah was fun, and sad. We started off with breakfast with my entire family (including Jennifer who was supposed to fly out the night before but wasn't informed of a flight time change so she ended up staying an extra day), 3 grandparents, an aunt and uncle, one of my cousins and her kids. Breakfast was at the Village Inn--the restaurant chain that my parents and many of my aunts and uncles worked at when they were younger. I think there were over 25 people and half of them were kids...it was total chaos, and really fun.
After breakfast some of us went with my Grandma Johnson to visit her home--it was crazy there too, but so nice to spend some more time with her.
After visiting Grandma, it was time for us to head to the airport.
There were only a few hiccups going home--like having to have Aaron's bags scanned about 10 times in x-ray and physically searched (while Matt was having to go through the extra scanners and I was trying to keep track of the 4 kids and our 426 bags, laptops, shoes and other items that we had to put on the x-ray machines. Turns out his trains were to blame for the extra scans and they were finally deemed non-dangerous so we could go through.
The only other problem we had was that American had decided not to seat Matt, Caroline, Carter and Alex anywhere near each other (think as far apart as is possible on one airplane). It took talking to two different gate agents (and several people on the plane) to get everyone sitting close to each other--though I figured if people wouldn't change, I was more than happy to pass off the kids to the two adults sitting on either side for the duration of the flight (well, not really, but I did think about it).
The connecting flight had the same seating issues, but luckily this gate agent was able to get the 6 of us on 3 rows, then people ended up not showing up so we had a lot of extra room--nice since the plan landed in Atlanta shortly after midnight.
It was a great vacation.
