Halloween

Happily, Matt was back in town for Halloween.  We held our annual Halloween party.  This party started 6 years ago, when Alex was a baby and Matt was traveling and I didn't want to be on my own for Halloween.  Since then we have continued to hold it and usually have all the family with us, sometimes friends join and sometimes not.  The only year we haven't done it was the year the house was for sale and I couldn't face having a party with trying to keep the house in perfect shape!

We had our usual dinner:  soup for grownups and mummy hot dogs for kids and then headed out for trick or treating.

We decided to do things a little different this year and sent one person with the big kids and let the little kids go at their own pace.  This worked out so much better, since last year we spent half the time yelling at the big kids to wait while trying to rush the little kids.

Matt took  Jack, Aidan, Carter and Alex. Caroline started with us and then went with some of her friends.  Shanna and Kydon and Abigail started with us, but then ended up on their own.  The little kids had Grandma (for a bit), Grandpa, Lisa, Ellie, Adam Aaron, Gavin, and me.  We only made it around two cul de sacs before everyone was being carried so we headed home.  Grandma had headed back earlier and luckily was there to watch Alex when Matt stopped because Alex was tired and everyone else wanted to keep going.

We all had fun, and everyone was exhausted and ready for bed....unfortunately Halloween was on a Wednesday and I was very sorry for the teachers on Thursday!  (But a little happy the kids went to school and were grumpy and hyper for their teachers instead of me!)
