We had big plans to celebrate the 4th of July. Great Grandpa Olsen had come to visit for a couple of weeks and we were going to have a lot of fun on the 4th of July--cook out, fireworks, lots of fun. Unfortunately, the weather was typical of what we have had the entire summer...lots of rain and cold weather! We didn't do the cookout, but we cooked at Grandma's house and even managed to move the fire pit under the deck so we could roast hot dogs.

We didn't want to try and find some fireworks that weren't cancelled (or sit out in the rain to watch them) so we did a few fireworks at home...
My kids didn't go out to do the sparklers--we have had a ban on them since Alex seriously burned his hand on one when he was 3-4. By the time we did the other fireworks, it was too dark to take pictures. It was fun to spend time with Grandpa again!
