Family Reunion

Matt's sister Jenny and her kids Savannah and Jesse came out for a visit the week of the 18th of October. To celebrate we all got together (23 people total) at our house and had a great time together. We talked, we ate, we went hiking, and we went gemstone grubbing--what else could you ask for?

Saturday we drove up to Desoto Falls just North of Dahlonega. We ate a picnic lunch before starting off on the hike

Originally we were going to one waterfall that was 1/4 mile, then at the turnoff, we decided to do the upper falls that was 3/4 mile each way.

The original plan was to go to downtown Dahlonega and go to the Gold Rush Festival they were having that weekend. But we left late to go hiking, then we ate lunch, then went hiking. By the time we finished the hike and started back it was starting to get late. The kids really wanted to pan for gold/go gemstone grubbing so we stopped at a place in Dahlonega to do that then headed home.
