Turkey Day!

One of our favorite Thanksgiving traditions is to make little turkeys for the place settings at Thanksgiving dinner.

Normally we make gumdrop turkeys--a big gumdrop for the body and little spice gumdrops for the feathers and head.

This year, I found a cute idea on another blog to make the turkey bodies out of chocolate rice krispy treats and then decorate using various candies. The turkeys looked so cute so I decided we would break from tradition and make these turkeys instead.

We started off with making the bodies--very easy....
Then we started decorating...the kids had so much fun

Alex was eating most of his candies so he had to start 'helping' me with my turkeys...

When we finally finished with all 31 turkeys (26 people plus a few extras for backup) they were quite a sight...not nearly as cute as the ones I saw as the example--but fun none the less! Although, I think next year we may go back to the gumdrop turkeys!

Happy Thanksgiving!
