One of the problem with having a daughter that is 7, is that she knows about things that you wish she didn't....like New Year's Eve. I was looking forward to a nice quiet evening watching a movie or reading. That is, I was until Caroline started telling Carter and Alex about how great New Year's eve is.....you get to stay up as late as you want, you get to eat fun things, you get to watch TV, and you do a countdown to midnight and then shout "Happy New Year"....
So,
resigned to my fate excited to start a new family tradition we got ready for a fabulous party at our house.
The party included:
- Making homemade carmel corn
- Baking some chocolate chip cookies
- Eating dinner (ham, cheese, crackers) in the family room while watching Wall-E (yes we were the only ones in the country that haven't seen it yet)
- When daddy got home (about the time the movie ended) we went downstairs and played wii games.
The wii games were so fun. We all had a great time, even Alex joined in playing Carter and Caroline in boxing--he didn't do too badly either. Matt and I had a few times that we found ourselves a little out of breath and Carter jumped up and down enough to count as his workout for a couple of days!

Luckily "Midnight" seemed to come earlier tonight than it does some nights--we were having so much fun it really only felt like 10pm or so. We had a great countdown to the new year and then shouted "Happy New Year" to the sound of fireworks outside--proving that it really was "midnight".

I wished our midnight had felt like 10 pm. It would have been much better than the 3am when we got home!
how did you score fireworks at "midnight"?
The fireworks weren't hard to come by--they were going off from about 8:30 until about 1am...we just told the kids about them at midnight ;)
Such a fun family New Years Eve party. I bet your kids will remember that night for a long time.
We had banana splits, but we didn't tell them about the staying up part of it. Therefore, I was asleep by 10, hallelujiah!
p.s. I haven't seen Wall-E either.
