Gardening

The kids love to plant things. A lot of times it is seeds from their apples (or anything else they eat), sometimes it is seeds they get somewhere else--one time there were marigolds growing in our yard that I didn't realize were there. I found out later Caroline had planted some seeds she had gotten somewhere.

Last weekend we were out getting some sod to patch some grass in the front yard and the kids asked if they could get some plants for their garden. We settled on a rosemary plant (we had one of these in our old house and love cooking with fresh rosemary), a basil plant, and 2 strawberry plants.

The kids had been using an area under our deck as their garden spot, but I convinced them to move to a different section of the yard that gets more sun. Today we planted the plants. We all planted the rosemary, Alex planted the basil, and Caroline and Carter each planted a strawberry plant.
Eventually we would like to turn this whole little area into a garden, but I think that might to have to come next year when I don't have a newborn :)
