Snow!

It snowed on Sunday! Matt and Caroline were at church when it started. The boys and I were at home (Alex had croup and Carter's asthma was acting up). The boys were eating lunch when they started yelling. I asked what was wrong and Carter yelled that it was snowing (Alex said this too--but I didn't understand him the first time).

Alex wanted to go outside immediately. I don't think he remembers much about two or three times it snowed last year, and he was a little amazed and a little confused by the snow.
After a few minutes he came inside and fell asleep on the couch--where he slept for several hours, thus missing the most fun part of the snow storm--when it accumulates.

After Alex was asleep, Carter decided he wanted to go play in the snow. So he went out front and played for a few minutes--mostly just running and making snowballs to throw at me :)
When Caroline and Matt came home from church they went outside and played a little longer, and built the obligatory snowman. Caroline's friend Jessie, who lives nearby, came over along with another girl that we don't recognize haven't met yet.
The snow got pretty slushy fast and was mostly gone the next morning--but luckily the schools panicked about a few spots of ice on the road and we had a snow day on Monday! I let the kids go play in the snow Monday morning, and by afternoon it was pretty much gone. The only thing that still remains are little melting snowman dotting the various yards of the neighborhood. Caroline and Carter have been praying for another snow day, they said it was "the best day ever".

(I should qualify this by saying that the week before we cleaned out from under the bookcase in the living room and found a few books and small toys that were lost and Caroline declared that "No one has ever had a better day than this"--so it doesn't take much to be the best day ever!)

Those pictures of ALex are so adorable!! I love the little tiny snowmen that are scraped together with every last bit of snow. Reminds me of the huge snowmen we would build living in Utah. I am glad that your kids had such an amazing day!

I wish we could have seen the snow. My boys are always telling me they want to live somewhere that it snows. Ahhh. I don't know if it snowed while we lived in GA, but we did get a few crazy ice storms! Glad it was a fun day!
