Despite my best efforts...it is finally time to potty train Alex. I originally planned to do it in May, but then we were going to take a long road trip the end of May (NEVER take a long road trip with a newly potty trained child--trust me, I speak from experience).
I decided to wait until after our vacation....except our vacation was postponed at the last minute (as in 2 days before we left) due to Matt's work schedule.
Then I decided to do it right after our vacation in July...but then it was the end of summer and I wanted to do things with the kids before school started the first part of August.
Then I was going to do it when school started...but when school started there were all kinds of things I wanted to get done now that I had more time.
So I was definitely going to start last week...but then we were going on vacation and it would be a 4 hour drive and I wasn't going to worry about potty training before we went.
So this week was the week--but I was really busy mon-wed so Thursday I was going to start.
But Thursday I had already committed to meet Lisa and Ellie at the mall playground...so I will start as soon as we get home
Oh...except I also promised to eat lunch with Caroline at school....and lunch isn't until 12:30.
I would have just waited until Friday...or Monday....or the next week.... but Alex was telling everyone that he was going to wear underwear on Thursday--and had been asking all week what day he got to learn to go potty.
So I finally started yesterday at 1:15. At 2:15 I was ready to give up for the day (no accidents, but no success either and I was tired and remembering how much I hated potty training--esp with an 8 month old to entertain as well)
I FINALLY stuck with it and we went the rest of the day until bedtime. Alex did amazing! Only 1 accident in all that time. Caroline and Carter were just as excited about it as Alex. Caroline even used her tv time to watch a potty training video (that we had gotten in a box of diapers) with Alex.
Of course, then Caroline had lots of advice to give me--like when I asked Alex if he needed to go potty, Caroline told me "Mom--didn't you listen, you should never ask because then they will always say no--you just have to tell them it is time to go!".....um thanks :)
Day 2 is going great....well, as great as it can when you spend all day going to the bathroom!

My heart is with you :)
Oh, I am so dreading that moment. Seriously, not one of my favorite "mom jobs". Good luck!!
