They started working the week before they came to my house--getting cupboard doors built, and starting other projects they could do ahead of time. Presidents day they showed up bright and early to start demolition...I took the kids and headed to Stone Mountain!
Demolition:
Day 2
Day two brought the installation of the new cupboards. They modified the top right cupboard and built the others new. Luckily we weren't doing anything to the island that required the sink to be dismantled so we still had a working sink and disposal.
Day two also brought to a head my appliance troubles. The agreement with the contractor said that we would purchase the appliances before work was begun and have them onsite. I purchased them and they were supposed to be delivered the 15th (a week before work was started). It was delayed to the 21st. Then I got a call that they would be delayed 2 more weeks. I canceled the order and went to another store to buy them. I got the same double oven/range combination, but they didn't have the same microwave. I checked the width, but forgot to check depth. When the contractor looked at the measurements he saw that the microwave depth was significantly different from the first one and he had to modify the installation of the small cupboard so the microwave would fit when it was installed. (we find out later--when it was too late, that the microwave dimensions listed on the website were different then the actual dimension and had we just installed the cabinet as it was first built it would have been fine--but by that time the only thing we could do was modify the microwave installation to account for the changes in the cupboard...ironic huh.)
Day 5
(work was done on most every day--but I'm just including the pictures that show noticeable progress--things that they did that didn't really show in the pictures I'm not bothering with).
New drawer fronts were installed in most of the drawers.
Day 6
Painting--this was the primer coat, followed by two coats of the actual paint. The cupboard doors were painted at their workshop.
Day 7
They had some trouble with the paint on the kitchen desk (the primer wasn't bonding properly) so they had to repaint it later in the day. The kids liked the way they indicated wet paint
