Spring Break in Utah--Day 1--Ogden & Cousins

Matt's sister Jenny, her husband, Scott, and their two kids--Savannah and Jesse live in Clearfield, Utah--just a few miles from where I grew up. Our schedules worked out so that we could spend our first day together.  The plan was to meet them at a Children's museum right by the Ogden Temple and then spend the rest of the day at their house.

On the way  I took a little detour and drove though Layton--driving past my old house
And seeing the neighborhood, showing the kids my elementary school, and other places that I remember growing up.  Aaron was excited because just as we were driving by my old house we heard a train going by and were able to drive to another cul de sac and see the train up close and personal....I think that was his first experience with a real train moving--he was thrilled.

We then drove to Ogden to the Treehouse children's museum.  It was a beautiful day and we had a few minutes to wait so we talked to the kids about the temple.
Inside the museum Aaron found the trains.  the end.  The other kids, luckily, wanted to see the rest of the  museum.
Uncle Scott is a fireman so it was cute to see his kids dress up and drive the firetruck.
Trust Caroline to find something where she could make some money!
I really loved this museum.  Not only did they have some great exhibits and dress up clothes--but the backdrops were great too--it made for some fun pictures
After about an hour Aaron decided to venture out of the train area
we talked him into dressing up and getting on the "choo choo truck"...ok, calling the fire truck a train was a stretch, but I was desperate.
Trust Alex to find a Pokemon figure in the museum.  I couldn't figure out why it was there until Matt pointed out we were in the Japanese display.
Can I say again how impressed I was with the museum--it was fabulous.  The kids had such a good time and there was something for everyone.  It was also fairly easy to keep track of the kids--there was the possibility of losing track, but the one entrance was closely monitored and I was certain the kids wouldn't leave without us!
We decided to go back to Jenny & Scott's house for lunch.  On the way I had to stop at Burger Bar and pick up a few shakes for us to share.  We used to go here all the time when I was growing up.  I have lots of wonderful memories of thick milkshakes, footlong hot dogs, and the big ben hamburger.  There was a new sign, but I think that was the only thing that had changed.  We got a foot long hot dog for the kids to share (2 hours time difference is a lot when it comes to meal times) and a few milkshakes to take to share at lunch.
All the cousins together
I love this picture of Caroline and Jenny
Aaron was trying to listen to the train going by--instead of cupping his had to his ear, he covers his ear with his hand...so cute.
I'm positive we couldn't have posed the 3 of them better if we had spent all day trying.  I LOVE this picture.

Driving back to SLC I decided I wanted the kids to see the Bountiful temple.  Then I realized that we would be the only ones not there in Sunday clothes.   So, we stayed in the car, in the back of the parking lot.  We stayed about 5 minutes--until the kids discovered we were parked right by a huge snowpack...when the snowball fight broke out, I figured that there was no hiding that we were tourists.
