We have been going to the Chattahoochee River Summer festival for about 6 years now. A few years ago they changed it from a straight festival to a river float/small festival. They provide shuttles (you drop off your boats then drive to the take out and then they shuttle you back to your boats), and the festival at the end has music, face painting, and bubbles. The real fun is the 6 mile trip down the Chattahoochee river.
Here are all the kids in front of the boats--we ended up with 2 canoes and 3 kayaks this year! Ellie and Adam came with us, Grandpa Olsen was going to come but had something come up at the last minute and couldn't make it.
We had an extra Kayak so we tied it to Matt's canoe and let the kids take turns riding in it by themselves. Ellie and Aaron took us up on the deal.
Aaron went in the kayak with me--and collected seaweed that he threw back into the water to feed the fish!
Caroline always takes the kid kayak. Adam took one of the canoes and his passenger rotated between Carter and Ellie. Matt took the other Canoe with Alex and sometimes Carter.

Caroline is great on her own--she has been going down on her own for a few years now.
I don't think we have ever done this trip that Alex didn't fall asleep for most of the ride.
There were a huge flock of ducks/geese near the end--Aaron loved it when they all flew over us!
Approaching the end--the take out is just before that bridge you can see in the picture.
We had a great time. After the boat ride the kids played with bubbles and had their faces painted while Matt and Adam loaded the boats. A reporter from the local paper was there and took pictures of all the kids and took their names, but we never did see the story.
