We were so excited for our trip to the Great Wolf Lodge. Our vacation plans for this year were nixed when we spent our vacation time/money traveling out to Utah for my Grandma Olsen's funeral. We were glad to go to the funeral, and I don't regret taking the kids, but going to a funeral and spending the last half of the trip in the hotel battling the flu does not make a fun vacation!
When we got a good deal on a short stay at the Great Wolf Lodge we jumped on the chance to go. Matt ended up not being able to go at the last minute, so we invited Caroline's friend Kaely to go with us. I figured that would give Caroline someone to do things with since Alex and Carter do a lot together and that leaves me to go with Aaron. We weren't sure if Aaron would make the height requirement to go on all the big water slides (at least all but one). Lucky for us our prayers were answered and he just made the cutoff--without a fraction of an inch to spare! He had to go with an adult on all the rides, but at least he could go. The trip was made even better by Alex being tall enough to go on all the rides by himself. Those two factors made all the difference in our having such a fun time!
Caroline and Kaely loved laying under the bucket dump--it dumped 1000 gallons of water down every 10-15 minutes.
Sorry all the pictures are bad--one of the concessions I made to being the only adult was that I left my good camera at home--so I could concentrate on being in charge of 5 kids and not worry so much about pictures and having the nice camera!
I think we spent the majority of our time in the wave pool. Anytime I needed to find the kids I would head to the wave pool and chances were that they would be there!
We got to the Great Wolf Lodge early on the first day and stayed at the water park for about 6 hours. After dinner, Caroline and Kaely went back, but the boys were too tired and wanted to chill in the room. The next morning we were there when it opened at 9 and stayed until about 4pm. We just ate lunch in the water park so we wouldn't have to go anywhere.
When we finished about 3 we changed clothes and looked around the hotel one last time, then headed home. We have so much fun going to the Great Wolf Lodge--I love having something that is so fun that I don't mind taking the kids to by myself, if needed!
