Day 9--Going home

It was sad to wake up today and realize we were leaving. We let the kids sleep in and I got up and got everything mostly packed. We got the kids dressed and we went to breakfast. We had breakfast at the Kona Cafe in the Polynesian resort. We had plenty of time, so we took the long way--boat from WL to the Contemporary Resort, then the monorail from there until the Polynesian.

Breakfast was wonderful! Lots of good food and it was quiet and fun to eat at. After breakfast the kids wanted to try to ride in front of the monorail train (free to do, but they can only fit 4 people and it is usually filled). We had been trying all week, with no luck, so we decided to try until we did it (or got tired of trying). We asked at the Poly, but it was full. We figured most people would be getting off at the Magic Kingdom stop--so we rode there then hopped off and circled back around and got on--we asked about sitting up front, and luck was with us and we got to ride. I rode in the main train and Matt took the 3 kids with him in front. (who had the better deal i can't quite decide). We rode in front for one loop then got off at the Contemporary and took the boat back to WL.

At the contemporary we had to get one more family picture with our favorite backdrops. I think this was my favorite family picture of the trip.

Matt wanted to rent one of the small boats at the WL marina so he took Alex with him and I took the other kids and we went back to finish packing. I finished packing, called bell services and took our luggage and kids down to the airline check-in--a great service where they will check your bags directly onto your flight--the next time you see them is at the baggage claim at your destination. Of course one of my bags was too heavy so I had to repack a couple of them (of course the kids chose that time to go out of control, but what else would happen when I was repacking our suitcases on the ground in front of our hotel with several employees sitting there watching me. (they were nice, but it was crazy).

After that fun time, we walked back over to the marina and the other two kids took a turn riding in the boat.

Done with that, we were all exhausted (and a little sunburned--I had packed the sunscreen by mistake) and it was about time to leave. We had time to take a few pictures in front of the Lodge, before the bus came to take us to the airport.

We flew home, fairly uneventfully and got back to our car.

We had one last little piece of excitement before we could officially be home--Earlier in the week Caroline had been playing on the ladder to the bunk bed and had fallen down. She had been complaining of her foot hurting all week, but she seemed ok. so we didn't worry. Unfortunately, it seemed to be getting worse, to the point that Matt was carrying her around most of the time. We decided to try and make it to urgent care by 9 (when they closed) and get it xrayed--just in case. We walked in the doors at 8:57--just in time. They did the xray and found nothing--likely just a sprain that had been aggravated by all the walking.

So there it is, our vacation was over and we were back home, ready to get back to our regular daily activites.
