I was waiting to pick Carter and his friend up from school today (he goes to half day kindergarten at a local church). All of the sudden cop cars start flooding into the parking lot--blocking off one of the entrances to the parking lot, clearing some cars out of the way, some parked on the grass next to the other street (the church is on a corner lot) and more and more cops kept coming--at one point I counted 10 cop cars--and there easily could have been more. There was a lot of shouting between cops--I could see all of this, and we weren't too far away, but in the other half of the parking lot from where they were. When I saw a cop with his gun raised running through the parking lot I got Alex out of his carseat and held him just in case we had to run inside. No cops ever came over to tell us anything and eventually they brought the kids out (they were being kept inside through all of this) and let us go--but there were still a ton of cops (though a few left about the same time I did) and they still had one entrance blocked off. It was scary!! I kept thinking that I was sitting here with Alex in a car with no protection from whatever was going on....I wanted to go inside, but I figured if the other moms waiting in line with their kids weren't panicking then I shouldn't either! I would love to find out what was going on!

WHOA!!! Ask Carter's teacher tomorrow if she knows anything. That would have been totally scary and exciting.
I found out that it was a mom that was trying to commit suicide--she left her house in her car with a knife and someone called the cops--they found her near the school and moved her into the parking lot to take her out of traffic....so there was never any real danger to any of us waiting in the carpool line.
