Today is the first day of school! Caroline is now in 3rd grade--her teacher is Mrs. Stewart. Carter is starting Kindergarten and his teacher is Mrs. Yarbrough. They have been so excited for school to start--when we went to meet the teacher night Carter wanted to start school right then.
They both laid out their clothes last night and we have gone through their backpacks several times....there was nothing left to do but go to sleep!
Everyone woke up right away and got dressed. We had pancakes for breakfast and brushed our teeth and ran out to take pictures quickly before the bus came (at 6:55 am).

I asked Carter why he had 3 fingers up and he said it was for Super Mario (I don't have any idea what 3 has to do with Super Mario--I'm just reporting what he said).

walking to the bus stop

Carter got a little nervous waiting for the bus

I missed Caroline getting on the bus because I was helping Carter with his backpack...

Walking home I thought of this picture--the first day of school when Caroline was in Kindergarten. I LOVED this picture, and it doesn't seem that long ago that Caroline was starting Kindergarten and Carter was so sad to have her gone.

After I got home I exercised and then I took Aaron upstairs to dress him and shower. When I got down I remembered how much I'm going to miss Caroline and Carter......and all their help with Alex and Aaron. Alex had found some markers that I had set aside for Carter to take to school tomorrow. Of course since they are for school they aren't washable (the ones we use at home are)....mid way into cleaning I remembered I should take a picture....

He pretty much looks the same after I finished cleaning--the marker has dyed his skin...I'm fairly certain the shirt is ruined (although since it is white I'm trying to bleach it). I guess I am back to my rule that Alex cannot be left alone--ever.

Those big kids are more help than you think!
I do the same thing- I buy the cheap markers for school and the washables for us! Sorry your helpers are gone! And I loved that one of Carter- that is so cute!
Caroline did not disappoint with her fashion! :)
We had a non washable makder incident at our house too. I NEVER buy anything but washable, but somehow this one snuck into the house, and into BRady's hands, and onto our carpet! If you ever hve that rpoblem, call me and I will tell you how to get it out. (I now know the correct way, after cleaning it the incorrect way. Our carpet has a bluish whitish hue in one spot that is un fixable!) What can you do? And why do toddlers love markers? I love the first day of school pictures- they look so cute and excited!
I hear ya! Can't leave Josh alone one second. When I do - major mess to clean up!
Hope the kids had a great first day!
I love the scarf, but didn't anyone tell her it was close to a 100 degrees. Her bus must have left earlier because it looks dark outside compared to our pictures.
Kelleyn--once I told Caroline that she was wearing things that were too hot. She replied "Sometimes you have to sweat for fashion" So after that I just let her do what she wants--if she wants to sweat that is her choice!
