What's in a Name

Yesterday I was telling the kids about how one of their cousins wanted to change his name and was trying to think of a new name to have. My kids liked this discussion because they, too, would like to change their names. I've told them that they can't change their names until they are 18--so we periodically discuss what they should change their names to when they turn 18. Here is what we came up with this time:

Carter: I want to change my name to Lego-man.
Me: What about Carter? I like the name Carter---we thought about it for months and months before you were born.
Carter: I will make it my middle name--my first name will be Lego-man.
Caroline: I want to change my name to Sarah.
Me: Why Sarah?
Caroline: I just think it sounds better.
Alex: Me change my name to Boo-Boo Head!!
Me: Boo-Boo Head?????
Alex: Yep
The rest of us dissolve in laughter and say different things using his new name like "Time for dinner Boo-Boo Head!" and "Boo-Boo Head, time to go to bed". Alex loved it and kept saying that is what he wanted.
This morning he has decided he just wants to be Alex.

Abigail told me I should have named her Keisha! I told her it was my very first parenting mistake. I don't think she understood. :)
