Caroline tripped at school and came home complaining that her wrist really was hurting. After 3 days I decided to take her in for an x-ray. The doctor looked at it and said it wasn't broken and put a splint on it. He gave me the standard spiel about a radiologist looking at it and would call me if they saw anything (they never have in all the x-rays we have had taken). We were on the way home and I got a call from the doctor who said the radiologist looked at it and compared it to an x-ray of her arm that they had on file and there was a widening of the growth plate which meant it was broken. So we made an appointment to get a cast.
Ironically we just got a trampoline and I have been worried that the kids would break bones jumping on it--apparently school is more dangerous than our trampoline because this is the second bone Caroline has broken at school!
