Good Bye to Primary

In August I was released as the Primary President.  I had served as president for 2 1/2  years, and another year as a counselor before that.  Since Carter was born (9 years ago) I have been in the primary presidency for all but 1 year--and then I was teaching sunbeams.  Looking back even farther, since Matt and I were married 13 years ago, there has only been about 13 months that I haven't been in primary--and those were not all consecutive.

Needless to say, I love Primary--I love the kids in my ward.  There have been around 150-175 kids that I was responsible for and I loved them all.  I loved everything that dealt with the kids.  There were some parts about being primary president that I didn't love, but being with the kids on Sundays was always my favorite part.  We had fun and laughed and we learned a lot and felt the Spirit.  I really was so sad to leave (I still am),

About 2 months after I was released (the new presidency was thrown in right as we began practicing for the primary sacrament meeting program so they were a little crazy for a while!), they asked me to come back into Primary.  When I came, they gave me a book they had made.
The opening page said "Quilters make great comforters.  Thank you for bringing the Spirit into primary.  We wanted to leave you a piece of ours as well."
Each page was a quilt block colored by each of the kids in primary.  Some wrote messages and some colored pictures.  Each one of them was amazing.  The presidency member that put the book together said that some of the kids were absent the day they made them and drove to her house to make sure that their quilt block was included.
I have looked through the book many times--any time I miss being in primary I look in the book and it reminds me of the part that I really loved--each of those kids and how much they taught me and changed me for the better.
