Big Brother

Alex takes being Aaron's big brother pretty seriously. All of my kids have loved having a new baby in the house, but Alex takes it to a new level.

I used to laugh about Caroline when Carter was born. Applesauce was one of her favorite foods--until the day she saw me feed it to Carter. At that point it became baby food and would never cross her lips again.

I thought that was bad, but Alex has taken it to a new level.

Anything associated with Aaron can no longer be associated with anyone else.

"Aaron is cute" Alex often says. But don't tell Alex that he is cute (or say anyone else is either) or he will reply "No Aaron is cute" Being cute only applies to Aaron.

"Aaron likes me" is another favorite. I used to reply "Aaron does like you, I like you too". I used to reply. But I have now learned that ONLY Aaron can like Alex. Don't.Forget.It.

Alex also hates for anyone outside of the immediate family to be holding Aaron. If Alex sees anyone holding Aaron he comes to Matt or I, drops his head so his chin is hitting his chest, droops his shoulders and says "I want my baby back" (every time he says this I think of the chili's commercial). If I try to say that it is ok for whomever (grandma/aunt/friend) to be holding him he shakes his head and keeps repeating that he wants his baby back until the horrible situation is remedied.

It is hard work being a big brother....

This is way too funny! At least he loves his brother and isn't telling you to take him back to the hospital.

Uh oh, this doesn't sound good for my plans to get some baby Aaron cuddle time in in May!

Jennifer--you will be fine (we will just run interference with Alex--distract him with a popsicle)...actually he agreed to trade Shanna a water bottle for Aaron, so he can be bought :)
