Surviving without TV

Today starts "National Turn Off the TV Week" I've never even wanted to attempt this before. I really don't want to try now, but I think it will be good for all of us....in theory.

I started off great--Caroline had to stay home from school today because she stepped on a toothpick yesterday and it went into the joint of one of her toes (ouch!). She couldn't really walk today so she stayed home to ice it and hopefully recover by tomorrow....so now she can't walk but can't watch tv either (bad timing on her part I say).

I was really doubting if we would make it through the day--let alone the whole week, and then I saw this...
and thought maybe it won't be so bad after all.

So hopefully we make it though the week...and it might turn into "Turn off the tv most of the time week", but at least we are giving it a shot (which is more than I have done in the past).

Yikes. The thought of doing that makes me hyperventilate. Not that we watch it that much, it's just convenient and helps keep my children occupied for a while. Yikes.

Good luck! I am amazed at the people who manage to get through there time with no tv. I wouldn't know how to get through a day without tv myself. I grew up as a latch key kid, so the tv was the good old friend that made the house not so quiet. I hope it works. Ouch on Caroline!
