100

Because I am all about following the crowd...In honor of my 100th post, here are 100 things about me that you may or may not know.
  1. Before I quit to be a mom, I was a software engineer.
  2. The last company I worked for did vehicle registration and titling systems for state governments.
  3. If you live in Utah, I designed the receipts you get when you register your car. I also designed/programmed the system that issues handicapped plates/placards and personalized plates, among other things.
  4. I actually got to register my car in Utah (Matt's last year in law school) after the system went live and got a receipt that I designed :)
  5. Yes--I know that is really lame to be so happy about it.
  6. I also memorized the VIN of every car I ever owned while I worked there (to test the system you had to enter valid VINs--after a while you memorized them.)
  7. I always wanted to program computers--from the time I was 8.
  8. I used to type in programs from my dad's computer magazines (binary code) to make computer games.
  9. The best game I made was called Miami Ice.
  10. When I was in High School, I took a self-paced computer word processing class. I finished so early that other teachers would bring me in papers to type for them--and pay me $10 each!
  11. When I was in college I was a TA for a class I was enrolled in (a new programming language and not very many students knew it)--I was in charge of writing and grading the final.
  12. The professor told me I didn't have to take the final.
  13. I used to walk in my sleep.
  14. My sisters can tell lots of funny stories about me sleepwalking.
  15. The best one is when I fell off the top bunk and hit my eye on Jennifer's desk--Apparently I cried about it for over an hour--but I don't remember it at all, and didn't know I had done it until I had a very bad black eye the next morning.
  16. Sometimes sleepwalking is a good thing!
  17. I mostly stopped sleepwalking once I got married.
  18. I got glasses when I was in 5th grade
  19. I got contacts when I turned 16--I had to save up $300 for my first pair of contacts.
  20. My first job was at Chick Fil A
  21. Another job I had was at a bridal shop.
  22. I had to ride a bus to work at the bridal shop.
  23. Due to various things that happened, my mom informed that I didn't need to talk to people on the bus--it was ok to ignore people around me.
  24. The bridal shop wasn't in the most fabulous part of town.
  25. When I was at BYU I worked at the Cougareat for all 4 years of college.
  26. I was a cashier (the best job because you could wear regular clothes) for 3 of those years.
  27. My senior year of college I worked 3 jobs--TA, Cashier at the Cougareat, and assistant manager at my apartment complex.
  28. I didn't make much money--even with 3 jobs!
  29. I lived in the same apartment complex for all 4 years of college--the last 3 I lived in the same apartment (with different people--my roommates all kept getting married).
  30. I sold plasma one year for extra spending money.
  31. One time my vein broke as they returned the blood to my arm.
  32. My entire arm was black (from bruising) for about a month.
  33. I had to wear long sleeves for a long time.
  34. That was the last time I sold plasma.
  35. I started mowing the lawn as a chore when I was 7 years old.
  36. I loved mowing the lawn (still do)
  37. Before I could 'legally' work--I used to mow people's lawns.
  38. I charged $7 per lawn.
  39. It was better than the $1/hour I was making babysitting.
  40. I used to have a heart problem where my heart would start racing--it would get upwards of 300 beats per minute for anywhere from 10 minutes to 24 hours (normally lasting 3-4 hours).
  41. The first time it ever happened I was 11 and babysitting at a house where there was no phone--I thought I was going to have a heart attack.
  42. Most of my friends in High School just thought I was out of shape (they told me this later when they found out the actual diagnosis)
  43. One treatment for it is to go to the ER where they give you an IV drug that stops your heart for 6 seconds then restarts it--I had this done 4-5 times in a 1 year period.
  44. It feels really weird to have your heart stop when you are awake!
  45. I had surgery to correct it in August of 2006.
  46. I was awake for the surgery.
  47. The doctor made some initial incisions for the wires then did the rest of the surgery across the room on the computer.
  48. I had to lay perfectly still for 4 hours afterwards--then walked around the nurses station twice and was discharged.
  49. I've never had the problem since.
  50. I often have dreams where I know I am dreaming and will manipulate things I do because it is just a dream.
  51. Apparently this is a family thing as both of my sisters have mentioned the same thing!
  52. My mom comes from a family of 4 girls and 1 boy, my dad's family has 4 boys and 1 girl.
  53. I will have (when this baby arrives) 4 boys and 1 girl.
  54. My mom's sister married my dad's brother.
  55. Those cousins seem the most like my siblings (definitely in looks!) of all the cousins I have.
  56. We never decide on a name for any of our kids until I am in the delivery room at the hospital.
  57. We never tell anyone what names were are thinking about until the baby is born and we have chosen a name.
  58. I love to watch college football.
  59. I started watching football when I was 8 years old. I would watch it with my Dad.
  60. I really miss seeing all of the BYU football games--sometimes I listen to them via the internet if I can't watch them.
  61. Listening to a 4 hour football game on the internet is not as exciting as watching in person or on TV.
  62. When I was in high school I could quote you stats on any of the players of the Utah Jazz basketball team.
  63. Caroline went to her first football game when she was 2 months old.
  64. It was a BYU game--she slept through the entire game--unless the person holding her cheered--if that person was quiet she would sleep the entire time.
  65. She went to all the football and basketball home games that year.
  66. She also went to all the home Georgia Tech football games the next year.
  67. After that it was too expensive to buy season tickets for Carter, Caroline and Matt and I--and not nearly as much fun with a 3 and 1 year old.
  68. I took Violin lessons for 4 years.
  69. I took piano lessons for 5 years.
  70. I was never any good at either one.
  71. I am a really bad singer--I can sing ok if someone next to me can sing the right notes.
  72. My friend and I used to call ourselves peer pressure Altos--we could only sing what the person next to us sang.
  73. I used to have a BMW Z3.

  74. It was a company car. I had it for 3 years.
  75. It was the best car ever.
  76. I would get people stopping me in the parking lot or at intersections to ask me about it.
  77. I would love to get another one some day. Matt would love to get one now, but it because he knows he is the only one that would ever have a chance to drive it.
  78. Z3s won't fit 4 carseats!
  79. I love ice cream
  80. I really don't like plain chocolate--I like chocolate if there is something else with it--like vanilla ice cream with brownie or brownies with carmel (but I have to have milk or ice cream with it to balance out the chocolate).
  81. When I was really little I LOVED peanut butter.
  82. For some reason I stopped loving it and couldn't stand the smell of peanut butter anymore.
  83. After Carter was born I started liking it again.
  84. I can't remember the last time I ate chocolate ice cream
  85. I love to bake--cookies, cinnamon rolls, rolls, apple crisp....mmmmm
  86. I am not as good of a cook as I am a baker--Matt is much better at blending flavors and cooking than I am.
  87. I used to make everything from scratch--I didn't know there was such thing as a cake mix until I was 12 and read about it in a book.
  88. Now I rarely make things completely from scratch--much harder with 3 kids hanging on you.
  89. I learned to cook when I was 8 years old. My mom taught me through a 4-H course.
  90. I first learned to cook banana-oatmeal cookies.
  91. I entered the state fair with my cooking a bunch of times. I won several first place ribbons--and prize money of a few dollars each time.
  92. I once had a job picking cherries--I earned 10 cents per pound.
  93. I worked 5 days a week for 2 weeks--about 7 hours per day. I earned $35.00.
  94. I love reading about World War II.
  95. I love reading/watching movies about things that really happened. Matt hates watching movies about things that really happened (he says you already know how it turns out so why watch)
  96. I really don't like going to the beach--I much prefer the mountains.
  97. That works well because Matt loves to go camping/hiking.
  98. I am happiest/most relaxed when my house is really clean
  99. My house is rarely really clean anymore
  100. If I could spend a day doing anything it would be reading a book I was really excited about reading, and having lots of good food to eat while I read!
I'm sure that is more than you ever wanted to know about me....don't worry--I will return to my more interesting kids shortly!
