Getting your moneys worth

I think there are a lot of times that I spend money and later think that I didn't really get my moneys worth. It seems especially true when buying clothes for little kids (infant/toddler) when they seem to grow out of things after only wearing them once (or never).

Well, here is a case where just the opposite is true.

When Caroline was 20 months old, my dad took a trip to Singapore. While there he got Caroline a pair of pajamas. I believe he said he spent about $2.50 on the pajamas. They were a bit big (he said he told them to give him the size of a 2 year old)--think Capris rather than shorts, but they stayed on her and she loved them.

Caroline is now 7 (ok--if we want to make it easy to compare--she is now 87 months old) and is still wearing these pajamas. The shirt is starting to get too short for her--it shows her tummy...and the shorts are shorter than I normally like them, but she is still wearing them on a weekly basis (until I can take them away convince her they are too small).

So she has worn them approximately 288 times and my dad paid $2.50 for them. That brings the cost per time worn to less than a penny....My dad definitely got his money worth!

that sounds just like our kids, whatever grandma and grandpa give them they wear until I physically detach it from their bodies. Cute :)

I'm laughing at myself here... Ist that a hole in the front of the shorts? Cause I said they were in good shape, but I didn't notice that the first time. Maybe it's NOT a hole and just a different color, but I'm feeling extra silly for saying that...

nope--not a hole--they are in perfect condition--almost like the day she got them....which is amazing in and of itself!

That IS amazing... Whew... I thought that at first. Maybe they can be passed along to some little girl cousins and get even more use ;)
