Old Soldiers Day Parade

The Old Soldiers Day parade is held the first Saturday of August. It is one of the things the kids look forward to all year. This year was especially anticipated after our disappointment in the 4th of July Parade!

Alyssa and Lexie were staying with us and Grandma Urbanawiz was coming to pick them up so she came up with Shanna, William and Petra and joined us at the parade. We also met up with Shanna & Kydon and family by pure luck and the Hopes joined us as well. It was quite a crowd!

The parade started with a helicopter (I'm sure there is a military term for the helicopter, but I don't know it), it flew over a few times. The kids had fun waving to the helicopter each time it flew over.

The start of the parade....

The most loved part of the parade--gathering candy!

Alex got a hat from one of the floats--it didn't really fit, but he loved wearing it!
