Lemonade Stand

For the last, oh, maybe 4 years, Caroline has been begging me to let her have a lemonade stand. When she was three she set one up in our kitchen and would sell to anyone that came to our house. It wasn't too bad, because it didn't involve a lot of work for me and she was thrilled to get a penny or a dime here and there.

Since then she has wanted to do a "real" lemonade stand. My problem is that I'm not about to let a 7 year old and a 4 year old sit outside in our yard selling lemonade without supervision--and the thought of sitting outside keeping Alex outside in the hot sun for several hours does not appeal to me.

This week offered the perfect opportunity--Alyssa and Lexie were old enough (14 and 12) to supervise outside and I could relax on the couch stay inside with Alex.

I was hoping that it would not be a fun time--so the subject could die and I wouldn't be pressured to do it again.

Unfortunately, it was a raging success.

They charged 25 cents for 2 (very small) cups of lemonade. They earned $7.00 over about 1 1/2 hours. They had tons of people stop and give them "tips" instead of getting change. They had neighbors, people driving by, and even the Fedex Delivery guy stopped and bought 3 cups.

The kids had so much fun.

Now they want to know when they can do it again.....

My boys want to do a stand too. However, they do Lemonade stands in Switzerland, so I am off the hook until next summer.

Oh, I should have come over -- I'm glad it was a success.
