More precious than gold

I've started to realize that some doctor appointments are more precious than gold--or so it seems. I guess I am too used to the pediatrician who can get me in pretty much any time I want at a moments notice.

The kids see a pulmonologist (for their Asthma)--we make appointments 6 months in advance and do not change them. Last year Matt surprised me for our anniversary by taking me to Ashville, NC--fabulous, except it made me miss the kids pulmonologist appointment--we called in August to reschedule and their next appointment was in October.

We are now in the process of taking Alex to see an Orthopedic doctor for some leg pain he is having. I called 5 days ago and the earliest they had was a cancellation on September 16th.

The thought of 6 more weeks with a 2 year old crying at night because his legs hurt did not really appeal to me so I pulled out all the stops and asked our pediatrician if their office could get me in any earlier. They called yesterday and said they could get me in August 29th--not great, but still 2+ weeks earlier.

Then last night I realize that we are going to be gone that day--leaving town for Labor Day weekend the day before--the only business day in the next 8 weeks that we will be going anywhere, of course.

So today I call to reschedule and now the appointment I have is September 19th! So I am worse off than before. Now my only hope is someone else makes the foolish mistake of canceling and I can get their spot....seriously so valuable.

I don't have as much experience as you in this, but I do know the feeling. Bummer! I hope you can get in sooner!
