First Day of School

Caroline started 2nd grade yesterday at Ocee Elementary. She was excited to start, and nervous about being in a new school where she only knew a couple of kids.

Carter and Alex missed her terribly, but it was nice to be up and going first thing in the morning again--we had become pretty lazy this summer.

After school I waited on the porch for Caroline--I can see her bus stop from the porch and she insisted that she is now old enough to walk home by herself. It seems strange not to be there waiting, but I could see her the second she got off the bus, so I felt better.

Her day had gone pretty well.
  • Her teacher was nice enough for a year of school.
  • She made a new friend (though her friend got in trouble a lot and she said normally she likes to have friends that don't get in trouble and are smart)
  • She didn't like that the cafeteria made you choose a side (she didn't like the ones they offered yesterday) and you had to at least eat one bite of the side.
  • Recess was fine, but it was too crowded to do monkey bars more than once.
That is pretty much the summary of the day....hopefully she will learn to love Ocee so I can stop hearing about how much better her life would be if we hadn't moved!

She looks so pretty and grown up. I miss that little girl. I hope she does well at her new school.
