Milestones

There is something special about all the firsts that a baby experiences...first smile, first step, first word.
Aaron experienced one that I couldn't find a spot for in his baby book--First Black Eye.
Matt was in Finland and I was at church with all the kids. I have to set up for Primary so I normally take Aaron and Alex with me and try to supervise them while I'm setting up (Caroline and Carter stay in sacrament meeting and, hopefully, behave themselves).  It usually ends up with me going crazy and them destroying all the work I've done working out ok.

This particular day Alex and Aaron were sitting on the piano fighting playing with each other.  All of the sudden Aaron started crying--I ran over and he was on the floor and his eye was already swelling.  I ran both of them to the kitchen to try to find some ice (Alex kept insisting he hit his eye too, but since he didn't show any sign of bruising I was a little skeptical of that version).  By this time his eye was VERY swollen and I'm starting to wonder if I should take him to the doctor--and knowing it was impossible since it was just me and my counselor running primary that day.

I left the kitchen and started walking down the hall, only to run into the husband of a friend of mine.  Who, I remembered, was a PA in an emergency room.  I asked him to look at Aaron and after a quick exam Aaron was declared to be fine...just a black eye.  Relieved, I went back to primary feeling a little less guilty.
This is a couple days later--the picture is focused wrong, but it is the best view of the eye--poor kid!
