Preschool Field Trip: The Art Barn

In March Aaron's preschool went on a field trip to the Art Barn.  It is a small, working farm that they allow kids to come and see and interact with the animals, do crafts and learn about the animals, gardening, etc.

It is definitely the cutest/most color coordinated farm I've ever seen.  The best thing about the farm is the owner, Farmer Sue.  She makes everyone feel as if you are her oldest, best friend--joking with you, talking with you about anything you want to talk about, and stopping everything she is doing to give you a hug before you leave--everyone feels like that, kids and adults alike.

There were a lot of animals for the kids to see--a few were wandering around loose--there was a huge turkey that went anywhere he felt like and most of the kids were a little afraid of him--I have to admit he made me a little nervous too--he was huge!
This donkey was named Ellie.
Farmer Sue gave hay (I guess) to groups of kids and they could feed the animal she specified.  Aaron and Ellie got to feed this goat.
They made sure to brush the goat longer than the goat really wanted them to for a while.
Here are all the preschool kids--not really loving the posing for pictures today.
Aaron loved this baby goat--I think he felt like he found something more his size!
After a brushing and feeding we moved on to see the sheep.

Of course it is always more fun to climb a fence then watch the sheep (though I have to admit the sheep were pretty boring!)

Farmer Sue said the field the sheep were in was lucky because there were lots of 4 leaf clovers in it.  Sure enough we found one really easily.

Then it was time to paint a picture.  The teacher was giving them instructions on painting a chicken, but it ended up being a chicken only in the most abstract sense.
After the painting we went on a tractor ride with Farmer Sue.  Ellie was really nervous about it and didn't want to get on.  Everyone kept trying to talk her into it, to no avail.  Lisa had her hands full with Gavin so, when it looked like Lisa was going to stay behind, I went and picked Ellie up and carried her on...she loved it, of course (and hopefully has forgotten my part it in it!).
The kids loved the goat sitting on the roof--we drove past it twice because they loved it so much!

Afterwards we had a picnic lunch and then headed home.  I asked Aaron what his favorite part of the farm was and he said "NOT the Turkey".
