Roxie's first camping tip

Roxie's first camping trip was pretty memorable...and not in a good way (but not because of anything to do with her--she was a fantastic camper).
We decided to go camping on a quick overnight camp out with our friends the Hopes.  We got there early in the day and set up the tent and set up the Hopes' tent for them as well.
Cousin Ellie came with us.
Apparently it was important for all the kids to have a picture of them in their beds.

After everything was set up we took a walk down to the lake.  Roxie LOVES playing in water and we wondered how she would like the lake....
She love it and didn't want to get out (though it was pretty cold!).
While we were at the lake, it started to sprinkle.  By the time we got back it was full on rain--and our tents is very open on top and we didn't put up a rain fly.
It then proceeded to rain off and on (mostly on) for the next 12 hours. The rain kept waking the kids up which resulted in every single kid needing to go to the bathroom....and not one of them at the same time as anyone else.  Did I mention that because it was a "quick over night trip" I didn't pack any jackets or long sleeved shirts or long pants...nope nothing to keep my kids warm.
Luckily Lisa packed warm things for Ellie so Ellie wore her jacket and Aaron wore her fleece pajama top.  Alex wore Matt's pajama shirt and Carter wore a long sleeved shirt/jacket from Misty.  Now I am justified in my over packing tendencies!
Luckily the next morning the rain had stopped.  Roxie had slept in her crate in the car, so I'm sure she stayed the most warm and dry of all of us.  Roxie was having a fun time playing with the boys.

After breakfast and clean up (and before we left) we walked on a trail along the lake.

Despite all the bad weather--we did have fun and it will definitely be a campout to remember!
