Mormon Night at Turner Field

Yes--the Atlanta Braves hosted a "Mormon Night with the Braves.'  Apparently, it used to be a fairly common event when Dale Murphy (a Mormon) was playing for the Braves.   The good thing about going was getting really great seats (20 rows up in left field--perfect for watching batting practice) at half price AND getting to walk around the warning track at Turner Field before the game started.  Waiting for the parade to start was miserable--had to be in line before 6...then it wasn't until 6:30 that they took us down on the same level as the field...then it was 20 more minutes before we walked on the track.....but it was worth it!   The kids LOVED walking around the field--and getting on the big screen while they did it!

Here are some of my favorite pictures....

Alex loved walking around the field.  After we were done Alex told me that he was going to be a Braves player when he was 5!  He said the when he grew up he would be a dad and a Braves player and would stay up all night catching and hitting balls and never go to sleep.  He also asked if I would come to the game and make signs and cheer for him.
We were this close--no zoom
A great view of the field.  A funny thing happened just after I took this picture and moved on--another person behind me stepped on the grass for the picture (we walked around the dirt warning track)...instantly 2 employees started screaming "GET OFF THE GRASS!!!!" and running toward him--they were next to him in about 5 seconds making sure he was off the grass....they take their grass seriously (I know they need to, but we had been warned about touching the grass while waiting in line...obviously this person wasn't)

I had no idea, and we've been here 5 years already?!? We'll have to go next year for sure. The kids would LOVE it!

Don't feel bad Diana--this is the first one they've had since I remember. Hopefully they will do it again next year.
