A tale of two puppies

The kids and I have wanted a dog for a long time....but I had a rule that we couldn't get a dog while we still had a baby in the house (one baby was enough for me!).   After Aaron turned two the kids asked more and more often when we would be able to get a dog (and just try telling Aaron that he was still a baby!).

Finally during the summer we started looking for what breed of dog we would want to get (when I say we, I really mean me--Matt was not really in any hurry to get a dog, as in maybe 10 years from now he would think about it).  One of the first dogs we talked about getting was a Golden Retriever, but with the kids all having Asthma, I was worried about a dog that would shed too much and cause problems for them.  After a lot of research we decided to get a Goldendoodle.  I found a breeder in Athens (about 1.5 hours from us) and in October we went to pick out a puppy!
We loved this little puppy that we found! She was a little fluff ball!  She was 5 weeks in this picture and the puppies can't leave until they are 8 weeks old.

Just before we left we asked about any older dogs that were available for adoption....She had a beautiful 5 month old dog
This dog had already been to obedience school, was house trained and seemed like a great fit for our family.
On Thursday, October 20th we brought Roxie home!
Roxie was a really great dog--she had a few issues, but was really sweet and loved to follow us around.  Unfortunately, 3 days later she started trying to bite the kids (and not in a friendly, playful way).  After talking with the breeder (and a lot of tears from the kids) we decided to bring her back and wait for the puppy we had picked out.  Roxie soon found a home with an older couple without any kids at home.   We still miss that puppy!
